Hedrick Summit is the ideal place for introverts. It lacks the social aspect of any dorms with public bathrooms. The room styles are plazas with shared bathrooms, so you get decent privacy. Be careful with choosing your roommates tho, because you probably won't speak to other people in the building. It has no big maintenance issues, apart from the occasional ants. Laundry is a massive issue here. 50-70% of the machines are broken, so set aside 2-3 hours for such a simple task. There's a decent amount of public space – two lounges per floor – and a game room, which is decent too. During my stay over Spring Break, the water system in the building broke down, so I had to take cold showers for a week, and the drinking water was also unusable. As with every building at UCLA, maintenance is really slow. You basically cannot expect to get any problem fixed when you most need it. Also RAs don't keep vacuum cleaners outside their rooms, so talk a walk to Hedrick Hall every week.

Building is nice to live in as a baseline: you get a solid room and a solid bathroom for a lot of money lmao. But it's not worth it to use a year of your dorm experience here. It's the furthest building from campus/westwood so you'll spend a lot of added time walking. Also the distance makes it a very isolating building from the rest of the hill. The main problem is that a lot of the less social people opt to live here, meaning that you don't get a sense of community/friend group from your floor or building. The people are still nice and all, but compared to living in other buildings on the hill, you generally won't get much socially. In my opinion you choose to live here if you want an easy living option, that doesn't help you leave your comfort zone. But if you're only spending a year in dorms, don't do that.
